        After a fairly boring opening ceremony, those of us who signed up for the Kyoto trip gathered in front of the CIE (Center for International Education or somesuch) building.

        I don't know why, but there was a fireworks trip offered today. I was pressured by some friends to come along, and I caved pretty quickly.

        We went out to a field maybe a ten minute walk from the Hirakata station, and everybody proceeded to have fun with the sparklers. It's kind
